About Early Head Start
Early Head Start (EHS) is an evidence based program that provides low income pregnant
women and children from birth to age 3 with family-centered services that facilitate child development,
support parental roles and promote self-sufficiency.

Through EHS, children receive comprehensive early childhood development services focused on:

  • Optimizing brain development and cognitive skills
  • Improving health status via screenings and referrals as appropriate
  • Giving special attention to social/emotional development

EHS parents work with Parent Educators certified in the Parents as Teachers (PAT) curriculum. There are also opportunities to get together with other EHS families, for fun, family-focused activities.
