Coaching Program Now Accepting Applications From Child Care Centers

Applications are now open for Richland County child care centers to receive free assessment, coaching, and classroom materials as part of Richland First Steps Excellence in Care and Early Learning (ExCEL) program. Applications are only being accepted online.

Coaching Options

Centers who are new to working with Richland First Steps will join the Enhancement Team and be assigned an Early Childhood Education Coach (ECE Coach), who will work with the center director to choose one or more classrooms for assessment and coaching. Classroom assessments are conducted using the Infant-Toddler and Early Childhood Environment Rating Scales and are used to guide coaching plans and materials grants for classrooms. Enhancement Team center directors get an extra benefit by being invited to join the Directors Team, a group that meets monthly for fellowship and to gain new skills and resources that help them lead their centers. Any child care center director in Richland County can apply to join the Directors Team.Centers who have worked with a Richland First Steps ECE Coach may apply for the Consulting Team to work on a limited basis with their coach to continue progress on goals begun while on the Enhancement Team.
